Welcome to the GBBS Pro Official Archive. GBBS Pro is a user-friendly, highly-modifiable Bulletin Board System (BBS) for communications and entertainment, originally released between 1980 and 1993 for Apple II computers. It has advanced features that can be configured by a novice, yet challenge advanced programmers.
This site was born out of the need for a site which contained all of the known GBBS segments and modifications as well as alternative BBS systems written in ACOS. GBBS Pro was written in 1985 by Greg Schaefer and was a mainstay throughout the computing world during the 1980’s. It included special character features not available in other Bulletin Board Systems of the era.
Apple Pugetsound Program Library Exchange (A.P.P.L.E.) is now assisting in the release of the product under a GPL license with full permission of the GBBS Pro owner, Kevin Smallwood.
Over the years, there have been many folks who own or have owned GBBS were looking for resources to return to the BBS world. This site provides much of that in a manner that is clean, clear and concise. You will find all of the materials here to add games, doors, mods, and other features to your BBS written in ACOS.
GBBS Pro remains copyrighted (c) Kevin Smallwood but is released under the GPL 3.0 License for usage and attribution. GBBS Pro is not public domain.
